Eeees are good

Eeees are good

So say the Shamen, but they probably weren't talking about the e at the end of Chill Factor'e', which certainly is not good, and liable to send me into a loopy old lady rant whenever I see it. Presumably someone in marketing reckoned the disaffected youth wouldn't give the place a second glance without an unnecessary but futuristic letter crowbarred into the name (X-scape, I'm looking at you..) Thankfully, the design department were sufficiently embarrassed as to make the extraneous 'e' very, very small within the logo, so perhaps they can just quietly retire it. The pun on factory doesn't seem to make much sense either, there's nothing very factory like about the whole experience (and why would you want there to be?) All I can think is that it's a reference to queuing up and clocking in at the turnstiles with a flimsy barcode every time you ride the lift..

Luckily, name aside, Chill Factor-e has lots to recommend it, and in particular it's a great place for learning to snowboard, with a nice long nursery slope. My sister and her boyfriend, Sam, are coming snowboarding with us at the start of February, so had an all day lesson here to get the basics, and by the end of the day they were both doing really well. Sisterly pride forces me to say that Vicki was looking a bit more fluid and comfy with her turns than Sam (this is a very blurry pic of one of her runs), but what he lacked in ability to turn left, he more than made up for in enthusiasm. Can't wait to get the kids up the mountain!
